1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1 large egg

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter (for frying)
Onion Gravy
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
2 tablespoons butter (or pan drippings)
-
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
 Instructions
-
Make the Patties
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix gently until just combined. -
Shape
Form into 4 equal oval or round patties. Press a slight indentation in the center of each to help them cook evenly. -
Pan-Fry
Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add patties and cook 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside. -
Cook the Onions
In the same skillet, add sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until soft and caramelized (about 5–7 minutes). -
Make the Gravy
Add butter if needed, then sprinkle flour over onions. Stir for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened. -
Simmer Steaks
Return patties to the skillet. Spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked and tender. -
Serve Hot
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
 Recipe Notes
-
Don’t overmix the meat or patties will be dense.
-
Use cast-iron for best browning.
-
If gravy gets too thick, add a splash of broth or water.
