Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
Make the Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Add garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs. Simmer until slightly thickened (3–5 minutes).
Layer the Potatoes: Arrange sliced potatoes evenly in baking dish.
Pour Sauce: Pour creamy mixture evenly over potatoes. Sprinkle Parmesan on top if using.
Bake: Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20–30 minutes until golden and tender.
Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
